Selena P. Tan is an Executive and Career Coach, and the Founder of O Positive Coaching & HR Services, LLC.

Selena is passionate about learning, innovation, and fun. She brings this spirit to accelerating clients’ professional and personal growth using evidence-based and cross-disciplinary tools and methods–getting to the heart of the matter while injecting a healthy dose of enjoyment.

In addition to her skilled coaching, what make Selena stand out are her immigrant background in a large family, early life experience with poverty and adversity, and prior success working in a variety of environments, from startups to 370-year-old institution, and with a wide variety of personalities–this all contribute to the depth and honesty that she brings to coaching.

Selena’s ability to easily cross barriers and understand complexity has allowed her to establish trust and respect quickly with executives and senior leaders from the life sciences, high tech and engineering, healthcare, and higher education areas.

Prior to starting O Positive Coaching, Selena was Vice President of Administration for The Coyle Company. Throughout her career she has led human resources, finance, information technology, and sales and marketing functions, and has focused on leading, engaging, and developing people in the contexts of organizational strategy, optimal value creation and outstanding service delivery.

Selena has an M.B.A. from Northeastern University, and a B.A. from Williams College. She trained through the ILCT and is a Board Certified Coach (BCC) with Executive Coach (EC) designation through CCE, a Certified Global Leadership Profile and Action Inquiry Coach through GLA, a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through ICF, and a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) through HRCI.

Outside of O Positive Coaching, Selena is Senior Consultant and Executive Coach with ClearRock, Inc., and has given talks on topics around leadership, innovation, and career management at MassChallenge, National Black MBA of Boston and National Society of Hispanic MBAs’ Moving Forward event, Asian American Women in Leadership Conference, and ASPIRE’s development series.

Selena is also active in the community, serving on the Board of CCE. In the past, she has mentored startups at MassChallenge, and served as Vice President of the Board of Asian Women for Health, Inc., drop-in coach at Venture Cafe and the First Event conference for the transgender community, co-founder of Women in Cambridge, and a member of the Steering Committee of Project Bread’s annual Walk for Hunger.

Selena lives and works in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her spouse of three decades, and has a daughter in neighboring Somerville. Just for fun, she sings in the band Hillbilly Holiday, tries out interesting looking recipes from scratch, and works to keep fit.
